Scholarship Information and Application

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS
For Shepard College of Ministry and Creative Arts


BACKGROUND:
Through Shepard College, the Inter-Cultural Inter-Faith Ministerial Alliance awards scholarships to part-time and full-time students who are fully admitted to Shepard College of Ministry and Creative Arts. These scholarships are for students who are studying in the following programs:

  • Ministerial Ordination
  • Associate’s Degree in Biblical Studies
  • Bachelor Degree in Theological Studies


PURPOSE:
To assist students who are pursuing established degree and ordination programs in some aspect fine arts and ministry.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Applicants must be fully admitted students.  They may be either students working toward ministerial ordination, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants should have at least one full year of academic work remaining to complete their degree or ordination program, although under exceptional circumstances an award may be granted to a student for the final half-year.
  • Applicants should be studying an arts related ministry emphasis.  Non-arts related emphasis students are not eligible.


AWARDS:
Awards of at least $375.00 will be granted toward school tuition and expenses. Awards are for the academic year (January.-December).

SCHEDULE:
Applications must be received on the 15th calendar day, at least two months of the semester for which the scholarship is needed.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • The scholarship selection committee will evaluate applicants on their previous academic records, their experience in the ministry and the arts, as well as their potential for contributing to the arts in the ministry. However, when applicants are judged comparable in these respects, the committee will also consider a student’s financial need. 
  • Applicants should take particular care in stating their career goals and interests. Essays of goals and achievements must be double-spaced, and no more than three pages long. Resumes are counted into the three pages. Essays are judged on writing quality and content.
  • The completed application must be accompanied by:
    1. Student Resume.
    2. The essay on interests and achievements.
    3. A certified copy of the latest transcript from the school currently or last attended.
    4. Letters of recommendation from your pastor or arts community leader and one faculty member from your previous college level or high school work.
  • Scholarship applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision one month before the start of the academic term applied for. 
  • IMPORTANT: Applicants MUST use a form of mail delivery that does not require a signature (certified or registered) by the recipient. Delivery can be delayed if the recipient is not available to sign for it and it has to be delivered again at a later date.
